Fishtail Braid How-To

Love braids, but don’t know how to make them? Grab a comb, clip, and elastic and get started now!

1. Part your hair down the center. Beginning on the right side of your part at your forehead, twist a one-inch section of hair away from your face.

2. Use a comb to separate a 1/2-inch section right below the first section along your face and twist that piece away from your face, combining it with the first piece.

3. Continue adding 1/2-inch pieces along your hairline down to your neck. Use a clip or a bobby pin to hold the hair in place at the nape of your neck.

4. Repeat the twisting on the left side, starting at your forehead.

5. When you reach the nape of your neck, unclip the right side and hold both the left and right sides in two separate sections.

6. Pull a 1/2-inch section of hair from the right section and add it to the left section. Repeat with a piece from the left section, adding it to the right section.

7. Continue adding 1/2-inch pieces down to the ends and secure with an elastic.

Pony Tail Twist How-To

Switch it up from your everyday pony tail with a knot-pony.

1. Part your hair down the middle and divide into two sections.

2: Tie the two sections in a knot.

3: Then tie the ends together into another knot and combine the two ends and secure the knot with bobby pins at the nape of the neck.

Last minute Coachella essentials

image

It’s that time of the year for the seasons most glamorous music festival, Coachella. While you probably have had your outfits perfectly planned for weeks now, one must need to keep in mind that you are camping and things can get a bit too rustic. So here is a few essentials to save that pretty face of yours and keep you looking your best all weekend!

1. Personal water/air fan – this is hot commodity and do not forget the batteries!

2. sun screen- duh, you’re in a desert.

3. lip balm- with suncreen, because your lips can get sunburned too!

4. Dry shampoo/conditioner- Works like magic! Oh and best part, no one can tell you have not washed your hair in 3 days.

5. Garnier detoxifying towelettes – You can use these to remove makeup, sweat, etc. Plus they smell great and you can also use them on the rest of your body.

6. Snacks- While the garlic fries and burgers are great, don’t forget to grab a few healthy snack options too. Your body will thank you.

7. Cheap (but Fashionable!)- Your designer sunglasses probably look great but I would suggest leaving them at home with cheaper (but Fashionable!) sunglasses it will be much easier to cut your losses if something happens to them.

8. Cute water bottle holder- Key to surviving Coachella is staying hydrated!  This gives you a stylish and convient way to keep water on you all day.

9. Comfy warm sweater- it colds at night, don’t forget this! We suggest the Somedays Lovin’ leather bird cardi available here!

10. DC to AC power inverter – Or in easier terms, this inverter plugs into your car so you can plug in phone chargers, curlers, hair straighteners etc. Skip those long lines for the bathroom and do your hair in your car!

Spring is coming! Floral halos and sunshine find Frenchie in Taos, New Mexico; melting the snow-topped desert & mountains.

The Frenchie team made its home in a cute Pueblo house in the foothills of Taos and spent two days location scouting and playing in the snow. The mountains greeted us with 13” of fresh snow and model Sarah rode a snowboard for the first time!

image

The following two days were spent bringing Spring and color to a very snowy white landscape. Our makeup and hair stylist Christina (pictured above) created a gorgeous palette of vibrant spring colors and intricate floral halos; completely transforming Sarah into a goddess of Spring.

BTW: When you’re MUA on the side of a snowy mountain, you’re applying most of the makeup and fresh flowers from the road!

Frenchie mascot and canine road warrior, Benny, tagged along and it turned out that he LOVES snow!

You’ll find several mainstay Frenchie brands in our spring looks including Aussies Finders Keepers and Pink Stitch as well as independent jewelry designers from our growing indie market place.

With bright flowers and a master makeup and hair stylist we tried new trends and worked only with fresh flowers picked up from the one floral store in town. We bought Taos out of every morning glory they had!

‘Equinox’ will debut early next week as our Spring 2013 look book; full of bright colors and renewing Spring energy!

Favorite place to people watch:
South Congress Cafe on a sunny day. Everyone in Austin is out!
Favorite three brands right now:
Stone_Cold_Fox, Cameo, and Zara. A mix of classic, forward, and boho.
Trend you wish everyone would wake up to:
Platform shoes. I know that this is a trend, but girls who wear platforms get a lot of flack for wearing unreasonable shoes. If you’ve ever worn a platform around all day, you’d realize that it’s actually pretty comfortable – way better than a stiletto without any platform. I love those types of shoes, but they’re so hard to wear more than a few hours at a time.
Stylist you look up to:
Rachel Zoe – She’s brought so much visibility to the art and importance of styling.
What makeup item you can’t live with out:
NARS blush stick in orgasm. Essential.
On your playlist right now:
P!nk (yes, this is happening), Atlas Genius, Florence and the Machine.
Your vintage scouting tips:
With vintage, you can’t be afraid to do alterations. Maybe the piece could be re-dyed, taken in, or hemmed up. A little change can completely modernize a vintage piece!
Fave Instagram filter:
Nashville.
Where are you from:
Saginaw, Michigan. It’s cold!
High end designer crush:
Mary Katrantzou. Her prints are unreal! Also, Clover Canyon isn’t exactly on the same level, but their prints are incredibly strong and slightly-more-affordable!
