What is your favorite part of being a personal stylist?
I love helping people feel good about themselves through fashion. It’s all about confidence and being comfortable in your skin while trying new things that may be out of your comfort zone.
What is exciting/challenging about being a stylist?
To be honest, because I’m not a full-time stylist and more of a “style expert” I don’t have to worry or deal with some of the challenging aspects of the business. I help people makeover their wardrobes and image, but I’m not a stylist who pulls and dresses celebs etc. That’s a different ball game. What’s exciting about what I do, is getting to help everyday people feel like super stars. It’s especially exciting, when I get to do it for online and TV shows because then I marry two things I love…styling & TV hosting.
Which trends for Spring ’14 are you excited about?
Pastels especially lavender, shift tops, wide leg trousers and more crop tops!
What’s on your playlist right now?
Bruno Mars “Moonshine Jungle,” Arctic Monkeys “AM” and Lissie “Back To Forever.”
What was your role on MTV’s “Girl, Get Your Mind Right”?
I was the On-Air Style Expert for 10 episodes, part of a 3 person Glam Squad. At the end of each show, we would makeover the girl/subject of that episode…it was a blast!
You’re part of an improv acting group. What do you like about improv acting?
I love improv because it’s so freeing. I’ve been doing it for 3 years on a team called Triggerfinger that performs every week at iO West. My team is my family and it’s so much fun playing with them! Plus, improv makes you fearless. Shows can be terrible or fantastic but you never know which it’ll be until you’re in it. It’s all made up on the spot and nothing is more exciting.
Congrats on your wedding! What is one thing you love about married life?
Thanks! I love saying “my husband,” it feels very grown up. We were together for 5 years before we got married so not much has changed, it just all feels much more permanent…in a great way.
Favorite items from Electric Frenchie?
- Striped Mesh Insert Sweatshirt in Black
- Keepsake Wide Eyes Dress in Navy
- Burnout Leopard Jacket by Lovers and Friends
What was your favorite show(s) at New York Fashion Week?
Clover Canyon, Mara Hoffman and Rebecca Minkoff were my favorites.
What do you love about living in Los Angeles that you couldn’t have in NYC?
Space and nature! I grew up in NYC so I didn’t know any better…I thought living in a 400 square foot studio and shelling out $2k for it was normal. I also love that I can be at the beach in 30 minutes and on a hike in the mountains in 5!
When you aren’t fashion blogging or tv hosting or styling, what do you do to relax?
I don’t relax…ever! It’s a problem. I have to be busy or I feel like I’m not doing enough. I’ve always been this way. I was the strange kid who would run home for school and immediately do their homework. Ha! Sometimes my husband and I take weekend trips to Palm Springs or Laguna Beach, those are the times that I force myself to chill, it happens a few times a year.
